Four New Libraries
We had a busy September and October over here at READ! After our spectacular 10th anniversary event (/heres-to-another-10/ ) we started our third refurbishment cycle of the year! From September to October we completed 4 more libraries taking our total number of libraries completed to 76!
The September cycle began like any other cycle, with a three day training held at the University of Dar es Salaam. We had 17 volunteers from various universities participate this cycle. All our refurbishments were held in Dar es Salaam which is useful as we begin piloting more teacher trainings and reading programmes!
The volunteers were particularly creative this cycle, stunning us with the different colour combinations and artwork. They were also incredibly dedicated to promoting reading at their schools. They came up with wonderful book displays, implemented fantastic reading clubs and got their whole schools involved in reading and writing competitions. We couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of volunteers to take on these projects! Take a look for yourself at the finished products!
